I love working from life! You have to work fast and it keeps your work fresh.
However this year, 2020 I drew college events at home using jot form for the student images. I used a timer to keep from getting to detailed.
Here is my Apple Pencil all decked out with gauze & sports tape. A few years ago while I was working Trade Shows I started wrapping my pencil, It’s so much easier on your hand when you’ve been drawing all day.
Everything has changed yet some things stay the same! This is a technique I learned in the early 1990’s when I was drawing caricatures at an Amusement Park in MN with a pencil
Your hand would be ready to fall off after a 12 hour day, wrapping it really helped.
I think Vet Tape works the best, just out of it at the moment.
Had the privilege to draw one of my favorite bands…Sean + Ian Okamoto
Anyone visiting Northern Wisconsin this year should definitely check them out !
Here is a fun caricature I drew a few years back for a Trade Show in Denver. I had pre drawn & printed the Bronco Theme so it was just adding in their head and upper body.
In March I drew digital caricatures at Fond Du Lac College near Duluth MN. We were able to connect their huge monitor to the iPad so the whole lunch room could watch as the caricatures are being created.
A few photos from a fun event we did in Minneapolis this weekend! Erik and I had a line non-stop for 2 days it was a good time! We both drew the caricatures digitally on an iPad and for this event we printed them 4X7. This was our second event for United Rental at the Minneapolis Convention Center and we had many repeat customers!
I love animals and I love drawing pets! Here is another batch of Pet Caricatures for Zoetis, It’s super fun to hear the owners descriptions of their beloved pet and attempt to capture that particular personality in the caricature!
Last month I was drawing Caricatures in New Jersey at the Harrah’s Resort for Bradly Caldwell.
The design team was truly amazing with their Heroes and Villains theme. I REALLY wanted to ship the Digital Caricature booth design back home to Wisconsin! Everyone loves to be drawn as a Super Hero! I stayed busy for the entire time and drew over 100 people.
For this event I used the iPad with Procreate. This is the first time I printed 2 copies and put them double sided in the lanyard so when it flips around you can still see their caricature. It was fun to see everyone wearing their
Once again I drew at Educause for WTC, this year it was at the McCormick Place in Chicago.
WTC likes the Traditional Airbrushed Caricatures on paper with pre designed themes. I have a small air compressor that fits in my luggage. All companys I draw for have been great to work with but I really feel like part of the team with WTC. I have been doing events with them for seven years!
